LET ME CLEAR THE AIR: my position on the Hezekiah Walker rumor!!!

After doin my rant on being careful what you forward to family and friends before you know the facts http://ajwoodson.blogspot.com/2006/02/before-you-forward-another-email.html
It was inspired by the recent email sent out about Pastor Hezekiah Walker being gay. The online publication that everyone quoted and forwarded in their emails recanted the story the next day.
I can't believe I'm still discussing this but I received a lot of emails up to five minutes ago from people claiming to have proof he was in fact gay and told me I should check my facts and do my homework and get off the poor Pastor Walker campaign. Even one claiming to have actually been in group sex with Walker. Now after answering several of these emails individually I thought I would use the blog to clear the air one time.

Do I think Hezekiah Walker is gay, I do not know nor do I care. As a Christian it is not my place to judge that man and/ or spread rumors by forwarding emails that slander that mans name without proof. As a Christian I should pray for that man to be delivered from whatever strongholds he is suffering from. Pray that God help him find his way.

God doesn't need my help judging anyone nor does He want my help. The main theme of that rant was be careful what you send to your friends and family. Because they will most likely believe it since it came from you and send it to many people that will trust since it came from them it must be true.

But since all of you have come at me stating you know for sure that Hezekiah Walker is gay and even suggesting I go to his church to see for myself. Even goin as far to talk about a large part of his congregation and their sexual preference. That leads me to another point. There is a big difference between Christians and church folks. This rumor was sent to everyone by church folks, church folks who couldn't wait to spread the word. Didn't matter if it was true or not. It wasn't even the secular world, that's what was crazy about the situation.

The Church as a whole should have rallied around this man and prayed for him, but once again we have failed one of our brothers that may who needs us. And we wonder why many who need to come to church won't because of the behavior or church folks. Do you know have many are turned away or turned off from the church by church folks. Before you are quick to judge others how do you think God feels about you being the reason for running off His people from His church. He who has not sinned cast the first stone.

I wish more of them would have posted their comments here so you all could read and know what I'm talking about but I will respect that since several people opted to email me personally or call me instead of letting everyone see their comments, I will respect their privacy.

Let me also say I put nothing past any person, but if the rumor is true instead of judging this man we all need to pray for him. And while we are at it we need to pray for all those church folk out there as well who judge others and spread rumors.

.... and that's where I stand on the subject, where do you stand, holla back and let me know...

Yikes!!!!
Nothing surprises me about people... not ever myself. I believe it takes all sort of people to turn the world and for that reason, I believe everything God created is good and everything has a purpose for the glorification of God. I myself have heard from a reliable source that one of the most well know minister of the faith is gay. Since I've never witnessed his action, and because I'm neither his maker nor his judge that situation is between that person and God. I have nothing to do about since I can't change even a simple hair on his head. I can only pray.
Cheers,
john

The truth of the matter is people are always willing to run with the negative before knowing all the facts. In life we must learn to separate the facts from fiction. I believe that some people feed of the negativity as if it brings them joy. My answer is dont get caught up in the fire by feeding it more fuel.

I am a close personal friend to an individual who is close to Pastor Walker and has known him since grammar school. These things that come out are very hurtful, especially from your own congregation. People in general just look for something to talk about, write about, etc. Mr. Walker went on the radio to clear the air. Did they hear that. Maybe they should.

AJ another great blog! I too have heard the rumors about Walker. It is no one's business what his sexual preference/orientation is. Only God knows all and will judge all of accordingly.

It is very difficult living life on a day to day basis, adding the fact that he is a celebrity in his own right...that doesn't give the general public or the "church goers" the right to cast their stones.

The BIBLE clearly states that no one is without sin and how can you tell your brother they have a splinter in their eye when a whole plank of wood is in yours.

I remember an old gospel song growing up called "Sweep Around Your Own Front Door" People pull out your brooms!

AJ I personally know you and your beliefs on certain things and I find it refreshing as a fellow writer that even within this piece you took the highground and left any bias out of your article. Good clip!
