Remembering DJ Rob One

On March 16, 2000, the hip-hop community suffered a great loss when DJ Rob One passed away. Rob One, aka Robert Cory, suffered from non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a type of cancer rare for people his age. He was 28. This loss was felt most strongly on the west coast, especially in Los Angeles where Rob lived, DJed, performed, promoted, painted, made a multitude of mix tapes and lived hip-hop 24-7. Rob was a member of the Shape Shifters, Cali Bomb Squad (CBS) and Lords Crew, hosted the "Fly ID" radio show and worked for EMI and Beat Non Stop record store in LA. Most importantly he was a good friend to many and a hip-hop pioneer.

It doesn't seem like 6 years ago. Feels like just yesterday.

Thanks,
